Happy Children’s Day

I love celebrating International Children’s Day. When I was in school back in China, that was the day which all classes were cancelled. We lined up and walked to the movie theatre nearby for cartoons. When we were back to school, there would be an ice cream truck or carts of snacks waiting for us.

After 3-year of working and recently be back to school for a certification, I have lost the sense of fun in my daily life. Why not taking the advantage of today and dress up for fun!

Moschino - T-shirt dress
Jeremy Scott is known for projecting his imaginary and fluffy world onto fashion. Teddy bear is little girls’ good friend.

Lanvin - maxi dress
The graphic stripes make the whole look alive. And you are not losing your mature and subtle appearance in the meantime.

Maison Kitsune - mini dress
After watching Julie and Julia again, my urge of going to Paris revived. This “Map” dress is printed with Paris-themed motifs. And “Oui” for a superhero to fly me to Paris.

Anna Sui - kimoni jacket
Love the embellishment of this silk-chiffon kimono jacket.

Chloe - playsuit

Playsuit is a must have for this summer. I’m browsing every store to find the perfect piece for myself.

Met Gala - China: Through the Looking Glass II

While the Chinese team had done a fabulous job illustrating the simple, pure and elegant Chinese styles, people from other backgrounds are not so lucky on the Red Carpet. Some went too creative like SJP (I still love her) and some went the wrong way.

People like Bee Shaffer (mentioned on the last post) and Emily Blunt looked so perfect and received great feedbacks from the Chinese media. This Prada silk qipao-inspired gown has the perfect oriental shade with defined embroiders throughout. The cape made her stand out for the night among the crazy...

I have to say Justin Bieber did it so right this time. We need to give him credit that he hired a Chinese designer. Dragons could only be wore by the empires in the old time. The gold dragon stitches on a whole black outfit looks trendy and stylish.

Ivanka Trump's gown reminds me a perfect Chinese porcelain.

I love Helen Mirren's look of the night. Age appropriate and elegant. The shade of red is China like and still allows her to stand out on the Red Carpet.

Emma Roberts chose a jade green silk gown from Ralph Lauren.

Lily Aldridge's Carolina Herrera gown reminds me flowers I've seen in Shanghai when I was a kid. The buttons details at the back is a nice touch.

The Vera Wang is nicely designed. Would be better she could lose some weight before though. And it is bad luck to put white flowers on your head (if you are superstitious like Chinese)

There are many sexy nude/see-through of the night. Personally I like these three since they still stayed on the theme. Diane Kruger looked great in lilac pink. Chrysanthemum was very commonly seen on traditional costumes. Although we all focused on J. Lo. body curve, but this Versace gown has great Chinese-inspired patterns.

I don't think Lady Gaga looked horrible last night. There are critics on this. Balenciaga is known for their bold cuttings and designs. With the net cape and iron-made headpiece, she looked like a brave warrior.

Met Gala - China: Through the Looking Glass

Since Anna Wintour took over the Met Gala in 1995, it has been the fashion war on the East Coast. (Has to say that Anna's daughter, Bee Shaffer, looks way better than her mother.)

However, it wasn’t like that when it first started. The first Met Gala happened back in 1948 when the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute was founded. Ladies would pay $50 to go with a dress in the institute’s vault. It wasn’t until the Prada Devil that Met Gala became fabulous and glamorous.
Since 1995, every invitee including artists, celebrities, millionaires and so on and forth, needs Anna’s approval. In 2014, an individual ticket cost $25,000 or you pay $175,000 for a table of 10.

This year, the theme is “China: Through the Looking Glass” and I am very fond of all the Chinese actresses’ looks.

2014 游记:意大利 - 阿玛尔菲 / Amalfi, Italy

MY Dream Villages

Aogashima (青ヶ島) is a volcanic Japanese island in the Philippine Sea. As of 2014, the island's population was 170 on almost 9 km2.

An earthquake swarm in July 1780 was followed by steam rising from the lakes in the Ikenosawa Caldera. Further earthquakes in May 1781 led to an eruption. In April 1783, lava flows from the Maruyama cone resulted in the evacuation of all 63 households on the island. During a massive eruption in 1785, some 130–140 of the population of 327 islanders perished. 50 years later, people started coming back to Aogashima.
The island is surrounded by very steep rugged cliffs of layered volcanic deposits. The southern coast also rises to a sharp ridge forming one edge of a caldera named Ikenosawa (池之沢) with a diameter of 1.5 km. The caldera dominates the island, with one point on its southern ridge, Otonbu (大凸部) with a height of 423 metres (1,388 ft), as the island's highest point. The caldera is occupied by a secondary cone named Maruyama (丸山).

Thanks to the active volcano, the island has free heat, hot water and energy to cook. Tourists choose to come by see or ride a helicopter for the natural springs.

Gásadalur is located on the west-side of Vágar, Faroe Islands, and enjoys a panoramic view over the island of Mykines.

In 2004 a tunnel was blasted through the rock, and it is possible to drive through by car. Before 2004, the 16 residents living in Gásadalur had to take a strenuous hike or horseback over the steep 400 meter mountain in order to make it to the other villages. The residents hope the tunnel will mean that the village population will increase again.
Don’t miss the waterfall which drops right into the Atlantic Ocean.

Huacachina is a village in the Ica Region, in southwestern Peru. The village is built around a small natural lake in the desert. Called the "oasis of America," which serves as a resort for local families.

The lake is also printed on the Peru currency.

Furore is a town and comune in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. Furore is located in the Coast of Amalfi.

When we were in Almafi last year, I didn't plan it as an excursion and missed the beauty. Hopefully I will be there another time for the fabulous beach and sun.

Eau De Gentiane Blanche Cologne

Before I was leaving to Canada, I had a beautiful encounter with Hermès's Eau De Gentiane Blanche Cologne at Beijing International Airport and I fell in love with this masculine and sensual fragrant instantly.

Earthy oakmoss, ethereal iris, resinous olibanum and sensuous musk accent the title note of gentiana, a flowering herb with a nuanced aroma and purported medicinal properties.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic Eau D'Orange Verte created by Francoise Caron in 1979, Jean-Claude Ellena introduced Eau de Pamplemousse Rose and Eau de Gentiane Blanche in 2009. Its creator described it as “a counterpoint to tradition.” If you are looking for something traditional, then this is not what you are looking for.
