After Canada-Day looks

After celebrating the 146th Birthday of Canada, everybody goes back to work on Tuesday. Should you a little Canada after the long weekend?

I picked three red+white looks for everyone:

Happy Canada Day

Lavender received from a sales person in Masonville

I really want to know the name of this flower. Shoot close to my apartment.

Lily received from a friend of mine.

Blonde K-pop Idols (female)

A friend asked me, “why are there so many blonde Asian girls?”, during a conversation about hairstyles, “... you know, the color is actually different from Caucasian blonde...”

Blonde has been trendy in Asia for years, simply because lots of Asian girls look nice in blonde hairstyle.

K-pop has been leading the fashion trend not only in Korea, but also the whole Asian style for years. Ga-in, the idol in PSY’s recent “Gentlemen” MV, changed her hair color into blonde last year. Meanwhile, each girl group has at least one blonde barbie.

Let’s see some pictures to compare:

  • Lee Hyori: A iconic k-pop star. Lots of catchy songs and lots of trendy images. She is the trademark of K-pop in my eyes. I will do one post on Lee Hyori only. I like her style and personalities.

Purchases in June

As summer finally arrives, I switched from outdoor activities to my beloved indoor shopping. Here are something I have bought in June so far.

Jacob - Side Rushing Pencil Skirt: the official website recommends to pair with a fluide blouse and an embellished cardigan. I believe this is a great way to look old-fashioned. I wore this skirt to my first Daya AGM as a voting member. I put a simple white unbalanced top and a pair of neon flats with it. As this skirt is high-waist, paring with an unbalanced top extends my height.

1st Logo XOXO

To start talking about my logo, first I should explain my name a little bit. People around me always wonder why Chinese people have their Chinese names, which are original and given by family members (usually grandparents or parents) and, at the meantime, English names. In addition, the majority use their English names when they are in an English-speaking environment.

The reason in my perspective is clear and simple. English-speaking individuals call one another by their first names. My fist name is only one character in Mandarin, it will be weird for someone to call me by my first name in Chinese. The reality is nobody had ever called me by my first name until I came to Canada. And, it is very hard for me to recognize it.

My aunt named me Sophie when I was around 4~5 year old since she wishes me to become a sophisticated and smart "princess". Sophie Lin Song has been with me for almost 20 years now.

Regarding to my last name, I always love it. Not only because I inherit from my father and ancestors, it has an interesting and nice meaning in English.

Back to the LOGO:

Thanks to Amanda, an amazing digital designer from VenDesign, my logo is finalized. It is composed of "SS", standing for "Sophie Song". The four colours related to the four seasons of a year: spring, summer, fall and winter.

I would like to thank Amanda for the amazing work. I appreciate her creativities and inputs. Especially love her phrase, "... no single colour can define my blog ..."
