Madrid, Day 6 - 7, Spain

Madrid, the capital of Spain, is the third largest city in the EU, after London and Berlin.

Every Spanish soccer fan will recognize this!

We decided to stay in Madrid while visiting the cities beside it like Toledo and Segovia. Thus, we picked a five-star hotel to “re-charge” overnight.

Palace Hotel was opened to the public on September 12, 1912, located at Centro in Madrid. It is currently part of the Westin hotel chain and was declared Bien de Interes Cultural in 1999. We’ve spent a lot in the Loewe store inside the hotel.

Palacio Real de Madrid is breathtaking, which is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family in Madrid. The palace is located on Calle de Bailen, which is not far from Plaza Mayor. You are not allowed to take pictures inside.

The interior of the palace is filled with art and decorations. These include paintings by Caravaggio, Velazquez and Francisco de Goya and etc. (pictures from other online sources)

El Madrid de los Austrias means the old centre of Madrid. Plaza Mayor is always full of people, tourists, street performers.

The “Km. O” on the street. Every roads of Spain start the calculation from here.

Statue of the Bear and the Strawberry bush is Madrid’s symbol.

Prado Museum (Museo Nacional del Prade) is known for pieces from Diego Velazque and Francisco de Goya. It is known for housing one of the world’s finest collections of European art, from the 12th century to early 19th century.
