2013 Highlights

I would like to dedicate my first post of 2014 to 2013. There are many unforgettable highlights, especially among the high-end brands.

1 - Carolina Herrera
Lucy Liu wore this elegant piece for the Golden Globe at the beginning of year. This 18th century style dress has large rose prints throughout for a vintage look. Long time ago, European and American traditionally hand paint plant patterns on dresses. Meanwhile, this is presented in simple cuts. A perfect combination of traditional and modern.

2 - Oscar de la Renta
Since Oscar de la Renta has the first-hand experience of New York celebrities’ temperament, the designs are always welcomed by “Park Avenue Princess” Amy Adams wore this gorgeous gown for the Oscars in February to show her graces. On the contrast, the pale blue is very low key. Thus, the whole piece has a fairytale pure temperament. It’s a masterpiece of understated elegance!

3 - Rochas
Seized by Marco Zanini in France, Rochas merges the romance of France into the designs. When your eyes are dulled with darker colors during the autumn and winter of 2013, this light Rochas coat easily stands out as such a delight. The exaggerated fabric and ultra-liberal lines make it memorable.

4 - Tiffany & Co.
The Great Gatsby, directed by Baz Luhrmann, was under huge anticipations before it came out in May, 2013. The highlight of the 2013 version is definitely Daisy’s accessaries. Full of luxurious atmosphere of the Jazz Age. Composed of pearls, diamonds and other previous gems.

5 - Dior
The Belgian designer, Raf Simons, impressed us with the Andy Warhol collaboration. Jennifer Laurence was wearing the Andy Warhol banquet dress on red carpet in Cannon. This piece is so vintage as the banquet is from Andy Warhol’s 1960s drawings and the cutting is completely 1950s.
Lady Dior bags stormed the whole world thanks to Diana. The Andy Warhol’s heel patterns were done for Harper’s Bazaar half century ago. Such a combination of art and fashion, yet surprising ease!

6 - Balenciaga
Cate Blanchett wore this piece from Balenciaga Edition for the opening of Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine. Designed by Alexander Wang, a pink hue is delightful and reminds people of the 1967-68 Fall collection by Cristobal Balenciaga. I’m glad that the classic Balenciaga arc appears in Wang’s first collection.

7 - BVLGARI
BULGARI presented it’s Diva collection which is inspired by Elizabeth Taylor. Carla Bruni-Sarkozy’s beauti and talents match this collection perfectly.

8 - Charlotte Olympic
The English designer, Charlotte Olympia, brought us the “Girls on Film” platform heels, reminding us Hollywood and vintage. The PVC and satin contrast each other to show the usual humors side of Charlotte Olympic.

9 - CHANEL

For an almost 100-year old brand, it is hard to impress its fans. However, CHANEL accomplished it with the No. 5 Flacom bag. Inspired from its signature No. 5 fragrance bottle, this comes out as the 2014 cruise collection.
