Beloved Oscar Dresses

Another Oscar night is approaching. Are you ready for the red carpet glamours?
The Academy Awards or The Oscars is one of the most well-known awards in the film industry. Since 1929, people from more than 200 countries have been trending this oldest entertainment awards ceremony.

The red carpet is my favourite part of the ceremony as I gaze fabulous dresses making their own statements. By scanning through almost 90 dresses wore by the Best Actresses, some of these dresses are simply stunning even for nowadays!

Helen Hayes (1932)
This black dress is over-accessorized, but was perfect for the great Gatsby period of time. The waist design was trending last year as it covers your belly and defines a slimmer line.

Luise Rainer (1938)
This was actually Rainer’s nightgown since she wasn’t planning to attend. But it doesn’t stop me from loving this elegant while stylish dress. Less is more.

Audrey Hepburn (1954)
This Givenchy dress is one of the most well-known Oscar gowns. We all know that Hepburn loves Givenchy. And this fashion-forward style didn’t fail to balance her delicacy and her boldness.

Jane Fonda (1972)
I love Jane Fonda’s directness and her political involvements. This Yves Saint Lauren suit phrased her confident personalities perfectly comparing to her floral winning dress in 1979.

Jodie Foster (1992)
Armani is known of its sleek images for confident women. I love how smooth the beaded pants were and how simple but gorgeous the jacket seemed. Her 1989 winning dress was too tough to look at (like a cheap gift wrapping).

Holly Hunter (1994)
Very Wang is subtle and famine. This black dress defines Holly Hunter’s slim lines. Apparently, Hunter still has this dress as a night that never forgets.

Gwyneth Paltrow (1999)
The pink gown fits Gwyneth’s healthy glows. I love the soft pink colour and fairy-like taffeta layers. Although voted as one of the greatest red carpet dresses, one critic commented "a Barbie doll wrapped in a satin ribbon.” which I think is spot-on.

Hilary Swank (2005)
The year before, Charlize Theron also wore a cut-out gown from Gucci but was too normal in my mind. This midnight-blue gown caught the actress’s attention while she was shopping in Paris with its dramatic design.

Natalie Portman (2011)
Portman definitely set an example for pregnant women to look glamorous. With minimum accessaries and feminine waves, Natalie Portman was definitely ready to state her own night.

Jennifer Lawrence (2013)
Christian Dior is always Jennifer Lawrence’s red carpet go-to brand. However, the volume of the gown was a little overwhelming and it caused her to trip up on the way to the stage. She is still the face of Miss Dior. Let’s hope she won’t trip again in 2015.
